L’vovo Derrango dumped By EMI

Kwaito superstar L’vovo Derrango’s once flourishing career has taken what seems to be a terminal nosedive.

Derrango, real name Thokozani Ndlovu, was dumped by his recording company, EMI/CCP, two weeks ago after releasing just one album, Heavyweight, through the stable.

While both parties say the split was “a commercial decision”, insiders say the split resulted from the controversy involving the copying without authorisation of Jay- Zee’s American Gangster cover by the Newcastle-born star last year.

They also say that Derrango’s lifestyle and over-the-top demands pushed EMI to the limit.

EMI manager Orrack Chabangu confirmed the split.
