Lira's DVD breaks sales records

Lira's Live in Concert: A Celebration DVD has sold over 50 000 units since its release late last year.

The DVD, which was recorded before an amped crowed of 3800 people at Carnival City's Big Top Arena, will now be released in high definition through Blu-ray on 1 November 2010 and premier in Europe in January 2011. This will be the first ever live local music concert to be released on Blu-ray in South Africa.

Warwick Allan, Visual Director of the concert said: "Our aim was to record the best live concert DVD in Africa, and I think we did it."

Elaborated Robin Kohl, producer and final mix audio engineer: "I wanted to create the bench mark for live DVD recordings in Africa - we had the artist, we needed a production to match her strengths.
There were so many firsts on this show from the event and the marketing and coordinative partners involved (Kaya FM, Carnival City and Fluid Media) through to the visual and audio production teams as well as Sony as marketing and distribution partners of the end product - we broke numerous records and defeated countless odds in order to achieve this landmark product.
Lira is at the centre of it all and her input and performance on the day made our efforts shine and rise to greater heights."
